4 Best Tips For Tourists In Mexico City

I will share with you four important travel tips to follow when visiting Mexico City.

Bus Ride: Catch some bus rides! When you are visiting Mexico City, if there is a need to travel to a neighboring city or to a tourist location traveling by bus is fitting. My favorite travel bus is called ETN, I prefer using ETN because they are double-decker buses.

If you want a great experience, try to buy an early ticket so you can get that front seat on the Top layer of the bus. There is no better prospect than riding a bus with that scenic view that few people on the bus have.

There are three seats in front, endeavor to get on those seats, once you cross security at the bus station make sure to find the exact position of your bus because, in some sections, these buses are arriving and leaving every 15 minutes.

I have read about situations where people jumped on buses without verifying the bus time on the ticket, then another person came to claim the seat, both tickets had the same seat number, but after close inspection, one was for 3:15 pm while the other was 3:30 pm. If you don’t speak Spanish, just swing your ticket in front of one of the attendants and they will help you get the correct bus. Google translate might also come in handy in such situations.

Still on the topic of buses, while you are in Mexico City, ensure to ride the TuriBus, there are four groups and all double-decker bus but this stays pretty much within the city and is built specifically for tourists. Accustom yourself with their different routes, note they are categorized by colors (Red, Green, Yellow, and Purple). As a tourist, If you are interested in only staying on the bus and completing the tour route, then red and green are the routes for you.

There are so many spots you can see, you can get off whenever you want (Personally, I would recommend you get off at the museum), the museums in this city are Top-class, however there are 16 stops on both of those categories, so stay on the bus and enjoy the full view of the town.

The yellow and purple routes are mainly for people who intend visiting specific locations like the Basilica Of Guadalupe.

Do not be afraid of the Subway: The Mexico City subway is similar to any subway in the United States, so you should regard it as one. Personally, I also use subway rides to move from a tourist area to another tourist destination (I avoid using it at night), for the Ladies, if you have to ride alone, there is a Ladies Only section to ensure your safety wherever you are going.

The subways are faster and they charge only 5 Pesos ($0.25) for each ride.

Take a city walk: You know, there are great neighborhoods in Mexico City like Zona Rosa, Colonia Roma, and other great areas where you can walk and learn new things from the locals. The Streets of Mexico City are always awake with several activities and you will be surprised by scenes that you would have missed if you board in a taxi or a bus.

There are lots of beautiful buildings and of course, tasty local foods.

Be Tenacious: Touring new places is not always a bed of roses, and you might definitely get some unexpected situations, but you have to be tough and don't let it ruin your vacation. You might have your plans canceled or rescheduled by your tour guide due to unforeseen circumstances, your plans to do something, go somewhere, but it's not working out.

Always set a makeshift plan should in case the initial one fails or take a  stroll just a block down the road, definitely you will find something else to Act as a Plan B. (this applies to not only Mexico City but  travel in general.)

The last and most important tip.

Plan Before Travelling: You have made up your mind about going to Mexico City, now is the right time to know more about Mexico before actually traveling there. Get first-hand information from people who have been there before you, ask questions about how the experience was, how they fared, the dodos and don't.

Let's imagine you don't have buddies who have been there before you, put yourself out there, social media is a global village where anybody can meet anybody. Take Facebook, for example, join a handful of Facebook groups that are related to your travel location and ask some questions, get some advice, and learn from the errors of others and just maybe, you will find some travel buddies to tag along with.

My Personal Overview

The people of Mexico City are very kind and are great hosts. I am elated to have gone there and if I have the chance to repeat it, I would.  I encountered several kind-hearted people and made friends with them.
